# Discord Bot

Automatically assign and remove Discord roles based on RPLAY subscription tiers.

The RPLAY Discord bot automatically assigns and removes roles in your Discord server based on each subscriber’s active subscription tiers.

### **Set Up Subscription Roles**

1. **Open the Discord integration window.** \
On your creator home page, click **Edit** **Social Links**, or **Add More**. Enter your Discord invite link, then click the **RPLAY icon** next to it to open the bot integration window. You can also access this window from **My Info**.

2. **Link your Discord account.**\
Click **Connect Account and Bot,** then complete Discord authorization. You must link the **account that owns the Discord server** you want to set up. An account with administrator permissions alone cannot complete setup.

2. **Add the bot to your server.**\
If the bot is already in the server, check its permissions.
3. **Create roles for your subscribers in Discord.**\
In Discord, go to **Server Settings > Roles** and create the roles you want to use, such as **RPLAY Basic Subscriber** and **RPLAY Premium Subscriber**. Give the bot the **Manage Roles** permission, and place **the bot’s role above the roles it will assign to subscribers** in the role list. See [Discord’s guide to roles and permissions](https://support.discord.com/hc/en-us/articles/214836687-Discord-Roles-and-Permissions) for more information.
4. **Select your server and a role for each tier.**\
Return to the RPLAY's **Manage Roles** window and click **Refresh**, then select your **Discord Server**. Check **Enable Automatic Subscription Roles** and choose a role for each subscription tier. Leave tiers without a role benefit set to **No Role.**

<figure><img src="https://887091347-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FWZ2iWAPtBWVHYoDD4Mt6%2Fuploads%2FHAlrdbQIpjhgELXcNuIJ%2FScreenshot%202026-10-20%20at%2011.51.35%E2%80%AFAM.png?alt=media&amp;token=ffd44007-26b8-4b4a-9110-93ad46caaa36" alt="" width="375"><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

5. **Save your role settings.**\
Click **Save** under **Server Roles by Subscription Tier**. Syncing starts when you save. Roles are applied based on whether each subscriber has linked their account, joined the server, and has an active subscription.

For example:

| RPLAY Subscription Tier | Discord Role |
| --------------------------- | ------------------------ |
| Basic subscription | RPLAY Basic Subscriber |
| Premium subscription | RPLAY Premium Subscriber |
| Tier without a role benefit | No role |

If a subscriber has active subscriptions to multiple tiers, they receive all roles assigned to those tiers. Subscribing to a higher tier does not automatically grant roles from other tiers.

### **Get Your Subscriber Role**

1. Log in to RPLAY. Go to **My Info > Manage connection and roles** and click **Connect account**.

<figure><img src="https://887091347-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FWZ2iWAPtBWVHYoDD4Mt6%2Fuploads%2FObN7ZTn5Fxzwmi3nIPKy%2FScreenshot%202026-10-20%20at%2011.54.16%E2%80%AFAM.png?alt=media&amp;token=610b5d42-c145-48f3-8ba5-5069c0a7b817" alt="" width="375"><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

2. Authorize the Discord account you want to use.
3. Join the creator’s Discord server using their invite link.
4. If the server requires you to accept its rules, complete that step.
5. Wait a moment, then check your roles in Discord. If your role has not appeared, click **Sync Roles** on RPLAY. Wait a moment, then click **Refresh** to check the status.

<figure><img src="https://887091347-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FWZ2iWAPtBWVHYoDD4Mt6%2Fuploads%2FeVB63vVFjDxuMp1PA6bS%2FScreenshot%202026-10-20%20at%203.05.55%E2%80%AFPM.png?alt=media&amp;token=61e78a78-bea3-43b0-afc1-4a6ed8c06036" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

Linking your account does not automatically join the server. You must join it yourself.

#### **Change Settings or End Role Benefits**

* **Change a tier’s role:** Select a new role and save. The bot adjusts the old and new roles based on each subscriber’s current eligibility.
* **Stop offering a role for a tier:** Set the tier to **No Role** and save. Subscribers may keep the role if another active tier also grants it.
* **Disable automatic role syncing for the server:** Uncheck the option and save. Previously managed subscription roles are also queued for removal.
* **When a subscription ends:** The corresponding role is removed when the subscriber’s eligibility actually ends.
* **When a subscriber unlinks their account:** Clicking **Disconnect** starts the removal of subscription roles from the linked Discord account.

**Use roles dedicated to subscription benefits.** Subscription roles are managed automatically. If you also use the same role for staff or manually granted benefits, it may be removed based on subscription status.

#### **Checking Sync Status**

| Status | Meaning and Action |
| ------------------------------------------------------- | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Sync Complete | Roles have been updated to match the current subscription status. |
| Sync Pending / Syncing | Processing is in progress. Wait a moment, then refresh. |
| Roles Will Be Assigned After Joining the Server | Join the server using your linked Discord account. |
| Roles Will Be Assigned After Accepting the Server Rules | Accept the server rules in Discord. |
| Waiting to Retry Due to a Temporary Error | Wait for the automatic retry, then check again. |
| Automatic Sync Stopped | Check the server owner’s account, bot permissions, and role order, then sync again. |

### **Troubleshooting**

* **Your server is not listed:** Check that the linked account owns the server and that the bot has been added, then click **Refresh**.
* **The role you want is not listed:** Check that it is a regular role below the bot’s role. You cannot select **@everyone**, roles managed by bots or integrations, or roles with moderation permissions such as **Administrator**, **Manage Roles**, or **Kick Members**.
* **The authorization window does not open:** Allow pop-ups in your browser and try again.
* **Account linking fails:** Check whether the Discord account is already linked to another RPLAY account.

**Sync Roles** in the creator’s role settings requests a sync for that server. **Sync Roles** in the account-linking section requests a sync for your own account.

The existing entry-token system for channel access works separately.

To use subscription roles for exclusive channels, configure channel access permissions for those roles in Discord as well. See [Discord’s guide to channel permissions](https://support.discord.com/hc/en-us/articles/206029707-Setting-Up-Permissions-FAQ).
